Betrayal hurts more than death

By Princess Pat Akpabio

Betrayal! I keep reflecting on it, and it deepens into a series of discussion. It evolves into lots of scenarios and yet, my experiences on betrayals brings me to the understanding that It’s hard to trust somebody when the one person who you completely opened up to is the person who later completely betrayed you. With such betrayal, what could then be worst?

I mean, What then could be worst than the betrayal of a loved one?
“I trusted you and I loved you”. “I showed you all the care in my world”. But what did I get back in return? Lies, infidelity, betrayal without a second thought is all i was recompensed with.
What’ could be worst than a betrayal of a loved one?

Did you ever think I’ll never find out all that you did for her?
When you cried I was there to wipe your tears.
When you were sick, I was there to nurse you back to health.
I stayed, when you had nothing but when you saw the stars, you betrayed me and shared the light with her

For years, you betrayed me and disrespected Me.
You had no conscience. Yes, you threw caution to the wind.
You forgot your vows on the altar and the promises you made. You said I will never move the goal post for my own personal aggrandizement.
What is a betrayal of my trust in you?

Did you ever think I’ll never find out all you have done for her?
The money you spent on her ?
When she would brag the world that she will get you anytime she wanted!
She had no respect for me, because to her, I was never your wife but she was.

You are the cause of our problems.
Do you now think you deserve my love or me?
Do you think I should stay with all the scars you’ve marked me with?

What could be more painful than the betrayal of a loved love?
You took life out of me when I gave you life.
You left me hopeless when I brought hope to you.
You got me beaten, bruised and abused
When I healed your sour and wounds.

Do you think you deserve a woman like me?
We reap what we sow, for God cannot be mocked.
Your betrayal hurts more than death itself.
